Project: Photograph Studio Turntable
Diameter: 6-meter
Stepping Control: stops at every 10 degrees
Location: Long Beach, CA, USA
Finished year: 2006
In 2006, Shenyang Weizhong partnered with izomcars to elevate their new Long Beach studio, crafting a specialized turntable designed for seamless 360-degree automotive photography. The system’s stepping control mechanism allowed the turntable to pause precisely every 10 degrees, enabling photographers to capture 36 high-resolution images of a stationary car from every angle—without repositioning themselves or the vehicle.
This innovation streamlined izomcars’ workflow, ensuring consistent lighting and composition across all shots. Photographers could focus solely on framing and technique, while the turntable’s silent, smooth rotation eliminated disruptions. The low-profile platform kept the car as the visual centerpiece, and its robust steel frame accommodated vehicles of varying sizes.
By automating the rotation process, Shenyang Weizhong transformed studio efficiency, reducing shoot times and enhancing output quality for marketing materials and digital catalogs. The project highlighted their ability to adapt industrial engineering to creative industries, proving that precision mechanics could empower artistry. For izomcars, the turntable became an invisible yet indispensable collaborator—turning automotive photography into a flawless, repeatable science.
